This blog might be all over the place, took an unexpected pause from writing blogs and so there is a lot to catch up on. We just finished our ministry in Malaysia. Our time there was above and beyond so special to me. I made some amazing connections and can’t wait to talk about it.
When we first arrived in Malaysia, after a crazy long two-day travel day, we were greeted by a whole bunch of people and a party. They threw a welcoming party for us with food, introductions, and so much more. It was a little wild but so much fun. We got a chance to meet all of the people we would be working with. It was a great way to get to know people right from the get go and really immersed us in the culture because from there on out we saw the same hospitality in many different ways through the trip. The people in Malaysia are so kind hearted.
Some of the ministries we did while in Malaysia include teaching refugee students, house church, boy’s brigade, and church. But our main ministry was working with and teaching the refugee students. Within the school there are 60-65 students ranging from the age of about 5-17. When they don’t have mission teams at the school all 65 students have one teacher. I know, if your like me “That’s a lot of kids” will go through your head. But that is why it was so precious to be able to come in and love on these kids so much while we were there. They loved having us as teachers and didn’t want us to leave. Some of the things my group got to teach our group of kids was the alphabet, there numbers 1-20, simple 3 letter words, shapes, conversation starters/statements, and so much more. It definitely was a great environment for me to be in and I loved getting to use my teaching experience. I can’t experience into words how much I loved getting to do this and what the experience meant to me.
One of the other ministries was house church and that was so cool because we would visit houses from people that the pastor knew. Sometimes they would be believers and sometimes they wouldn’t be. It was fun to get to go and hear people from my squad preach and share testimonies. Also to see people light up or get emotional over what God did in someone’s life was so encouraging and powerful.
The other ministry we did was called boys brigade. The best way I can think to explain it would be that it is a mix between Boy Scouts and VBS. The kids come to the church and they start with worship and prayer, then go into there teaching/devotion time (broke down by age), and then come together at the end for fellowship. During
my teams time at boys brigade we taught the Junior 1 kids which were about age 6-8. Some of the things we got to teach them were about King Saul and David and Goliath.
All of these ministries were super cool opportunities and we saw God move in so many different ways and in abundance. During our time in Malaysia we had all squad month meaning all 3 teams were together bringing all 16 of us to the same place. It was so special to get to spend time as a whole squad, serve together as a squad, and to grow deeper.
Now we are onto the Philippines which is so exciting. I will be posting a blog soon about introduction stuff into our new ministry and the first couple days of stuff since being here. We have been here for such a short time and it has already been amazing. The harvest is ready here in the Philippines.
As always please consider donating toward my trip. Without donations from friends and family, I wouldn’t be able to be doing the Lords work here in these countries. I am currently 39% funded and would love to get to 55% by the end of the Philippines (June 23rd). Mandy, you and your team are doing such amazing work. Showing the love of Jesus to kids will be with them for a lifetime. Sending love, hugs and blessings!
Thank you! That is so true especially when the only time they are receiving Godly love is at school. ❤️
